The Roots and Role of Visions in Creating Indigenous Futures
In this, the twenty-second volume of the Journal of NAIITS, we have gathered a collection of essays born from the 2024 annual Symposium, held in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. This theme invited contributors to reflect deeply on the ways dreams and visions serve as sacred catalysts for Indigenous resurgence, cultural memory, and theological imagination. In a time marked by both peril and possibility, the symposium asked: What role might visions and dreams play in reorienting our understanding of theology, community, and future? As editors, we have arranged the essays in this volume to trace a narrative arc—from the deep wells of biblical and theological reflection through to embodied practices of community transformation and spiritual resilience. The result is a woven collection of Spirit-led insights and grounded experiences that we believe will continue to challenge and inspire.
